Are you using AI tools for podcasting?

I did that and AI almost made me a dud!

I saw everybody using ChatGPT for everything from writing blog posts, scripts to even writing comments on LinkedIn.

I too started using it.

But it less than a month, I was on the verge of becoming a dud. I lost all of my creativity.

Want to know how and what I did to come out of it?

This could be a lesson for you as well. So keep watching the video!

AI can be extremely helpful in content creation. But how you use it will determine if it helps further enhance your creativity skills or, destroy all of it.

You see, these tools that are created to simplify our work often becomes the reason for our downfall.

I am of the belief that we humans are inherently lazy. And it is in our attempt to avoid doing things, that we find easier ways of doing it like AI.

Some of the wiser men use these easier methods to get things done quickly and more efficiently. But at the same time they keep building themselves as well.

And yet others use it to substitute themselves and hence lose their existence all together.

Effective ways of using AI Tools for Podcasting

Anyways, setting aside the philosophical discussion, we are creators. We have a skill of creating. Creating to help solve problems.

And that is one skill that you don’t want to lose to an AI.

I am not against AI.

Like what I said, AI for solo podcasters, is extremely helpful and can help us become more efficient and productive.

And as a podcaster you should be using AI tools for podcasting to simplify your systems and get things done faster.

In fact, there are some effective ways you can use AI in podcasting and these are the ways you should be using it.

But a lot of people outsource all of their work like script writing etc. to AI and do nothing themselves.

The result!

AI makes them a DUD like it did to me.

Anyways, I was able to get back on track quickly before it did a lot of damage.

And in this episode I will help you ensure that you don’t face that situation.

In this episode I will share 5 ways you should be using AI in podcasting and assist you with streamlining your podcast production:

Generate Outline Drafts

You can use the various AI tools for podcasting to generate outline drafts for your podcast.

This is one of the best ways to keep your creativity intact and yet simplify your podcasting process.

Have AI create a high-level episode outline based on your topic, key points, and goals.

Once you have an outline, it is easier for your to elaborate on the points, give it your personality and add or, tweak it based on your requirement.

Conduct Background Research

Background research is another area where you can use AI in Podcasting. I have used it quite a few times not only to research my guests but also research content.

Tools like CoPilot and ChatGPT plus has capabilities of evaluating entire webpages.

You can use them to analyze “About” pages for your guests to gather key points about their profiles and achievements.

You could also use it to evaluate blog posts to do a gap-analysis so that you can create content to plug the gaps.

Brainstorm Fresh Ideas

One of the best ways to use AI is to prompt it to suggest podcast topics, titles, formats, and segments focused on your target audience.

You will be surprised at some of the output you get using this process.

I use Claude AI all the time to do this and I get some very innovative and interesting ideas that I then use for my podcast.

Optimize SEO Elements

AI can help you with optimizing your episodes. Though it is not very efficient, yet the results can be good enough to be used after some bit of tweaking.

I use Bard AI from Google for this. After all Google is the best search engine around. So why not check with their AI on what are good keywords to use.

I let AI analyze and recommend effective keywords, meta descriptions, tags, and headers for my podcast.

And quite a lot of times, I get some excellent results which has helped me rank on Google and get a decent amount of traffic.

Transcribe Recordings

You can also use AI to transcribe your recordings. Not all AI tools out there has that capability. But there are some that do this very efficiently.

You can turn your audio into text transcripts for repurposing content and promoting your podcast on other channels like Twitter and Linkedin.

Descript is one such tool that does a good job of transcribing episodes.

Conclusion – AI in Podcasting

Before I wrap up the episode, here are a few tips for using AI for solo podcasters successfully:

  1. You might want to treat AI as a collaborator, not the creator. The unique perspectives you bring are irreplaceable. So ensure you are giving your content that unique perspective.
  2. Review all AI outputs carefully. Fix any errors. Improve phrasing. Add your flair and make it more engaging
  3. Use AI to accelerate drafting. But take the time to refine. Quality still requires effort and that effort will be worth it. So don’t try to cut corners and save the time you would spend on doing it.
  4. Follow ethics and cite AI assistance where applicable. Don’t misrepresent capabilities.

So look at AI as a podcasting sidekick – helping lighten your workload while you provide the ingenuity and polish.
