How to don multiple hats and be a success at each one of them?
This is the age of multi-tasking. And these days multi-tasking has taken on a new avatar and it is now multi-roleplaying.
Every one of us is playing multiple roles in our lives. And the measure of success is not based on how successfully we play some of those roles. It is based on how successfully we play every one of those roles.
And when it comes to doing something where success can be slow like Podcasting or, for that matter even Blogging, then it becomes a factor of how motivated we manage to keep ourselves.
Now, let us add another twist to it.
What if you have to manage all of this along with another very important responsibility that can take up almost all of your day?
The responsibility of being a Homemaker!
When it comes to goals and dreams, a lot of times many of us abandon them because we have responsibilities to take care off. And that is what precisely happens when you are tagged as a “Homemaker”.
But, Puja decided otherwise.
She didn’t succumb to the pressures.
Instead she smartly managed her time and her responsibilities to pursue what she liked doing. And in fact, used that to start and run a home based blogging business.
In this episode which is the first in a series on Women Podcasters, I talk to Puja from The Tastes of India Podcast and understand from her how she managed to successfully handle all of these responsibilities and at the same time host and build an audience around the only recipe podcast in India.
Successfully Juggling Multiple Roles with Puja from The Tastes of India Podcast
Women who take up the role of being a homemaker after marriage assumes a huge responsibility in doing that. But most of the time, this isn’t something they do willingly.
In fact, in a lot of cases they do it because they do not have a choice.
But, does that mean that they do not have dreams and aspirations.
They do.
But, these dreams and aspirations die over time because they are abandoned – abandoned under the pressure of a huge responsibility.
Puja also had to take up this responsibility, though she did it willingly (partially) because she wanted to take care of her little daughter.
And thanks to the organization that she worked for, who refused her leaves (even though she had requested for leaves without pay), she had no other choice but to look for alternate ways to achieve her dreams.
That’s when she took to blogging and her blog, The Tastes of India came into being.
She later started her podcast – The Tastes of India podcast, which is the only recipe Podcast in India as of today. The podcast has more than 5.75 lakh downloads in addition to the initial 1.5 lakh listens it garnered when it was hosted with Audioboom.
Puja is also an author with her first book – Tasty Kids Recipes Cookbook, now available for sale on Amazon.
That one too many roles to play. Isn’t it?
If you are somebody who have been struggling to managing multiple roles, then this could be the inspiration you were always looking for.
Let us listen in to Puja as she talks to us about her journey.
