business podcasting

Business Podcasting – Just like business blogging, podcasting seems to be catching up with businesses and they seem to be adopting it to further enhance their brand’s reach and increase their brand value.

While business podcasting isn’t new and there are quite a few podcasts in the international market, it took some time for businesses to understand the value proposition and start a podcast.

In fact, business podcasting isn’t very common in India and even today we have very few business podcasts.

Businesses have been skeptical in getting into the podcasting space and have been looking to get some concrete information on how the ROI looks, which is probably why they have been playing the wait and watch game.

But not everybody is ready to wait and watch.

Because they believe that “early adopters are the biggest gainers“.

To a great extent it seems to be true as well. But there isn’t really any gain without pain. Isn’t it?

And then when they succeed, they have an interesting story to tell – the story of how they toiled to reach where they are.

Today’s guest on the show has a similar story to tell.

She was one of the first to start a business podcast and in fact, one of the first female business podcasters in India. When she got to know about podcasting as a platform, she did not wait to see how the platform grows.

She just jumped in with a concept and an idea. But not before she did her research.

And the end result – her podcast, “People Who Matter”, which boasts of about 100K subscribers across 3 seasons and 29 episodes.

In this episode, I talk to Bhargavi Swami, the host of People Who Matter and we will learn how she managed to successfully start and run her business podcast and how she uses it to further enhance the brand value of her existing business.

Business Podcasting – Using it to enhance your existing Brand : with Bhargavi Swami

Podcasting can be difficult, especially if you are doing it along with running a business.

Your business could be successful and might be running on auto-pilot (which as per me does not exist in business). Yet it is important that you know when to take your attention off your business and when not, all while doing the many things involved in podcasting.

It is also important that you learn the art of delegating, outsourcing and taking help wherever needed.

Bhargavi is somebody who has “been there, done that“.

She runs a successful HR Consulting company and at the same time managed to start and run a successful podcast in the business podcasting space – so successful that the latest season (Season-3) was launched exclusively on the biggest audio platform – Audible.

Bhargavi is one of the youngest members of the Assocham top 100 entrepreneurs who has always been at the forefront of business innovation and diversification.

She is also the CEO of Excel Corporation which is an all woman HR Company and is one of India’s leading HR and Content Consulting Organizations based in Bangalore with branches in Chennai and Mumbai. Under her leadership the company has diversified into HR Consulting, Virtual HR Services for startups, Future skill development program etc.

She is one of the first female business podcasters in India and her podcast “People Who matter”, looks at capturing new perspectives and viewpoints on trending topics and issues at work and life, and has more than a lakh subscribers over 3 seasons and 29 episodes.

It enjoys listenership in India, USA, Canada, Europe, Singapore, Middle East and Australia. Her latest season has launched exclusively on one of the biggest audio platforms – Audible in a worlwide release that happened on Jan 2021 and features and interesting line up of guests.

In this conversation with Bhargavi, we talk about a lot of things some of which are –

  • How to transform a passion project into a brand
  • How to use your podcast to brand your core business
  • Knowing what’s the right time to diversify into other things
  • Planning the right frequency for your show
  • The reason why you should delegate and take help
  • Why monetization is another way of validating your idea and your production

Thank you for joining in
